Working as a mentor on Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching® Oracle Card Certification program has been a blessing.
I feel a strong connection to the other mentors, and Denise, and have had flashbacks to a time in ancient Greece where we were oracles together.
Many people sough out oracle for advice and the prediction of future events. Each oracle was contacted and asked by the inquirer through a type of divination specified by the oracle. These specified types of divination allowed the inquirer to foretell future evens and to interpret ones of the past.
Oracles exist today in many mainstream ways. Economists pop to mind as one group who set themselves up as predictors of the future, often with as much succes as Nostradamus if the Global Financial crisis is anything to go by.
Perhaps the most overt of the mainstream oracles are the ‘futurists’ who claim to be able to bring together all the threads that exist now and predict where we will be in 10, 20 or 100 years’ time. Like the ancient oracles they have some success and some failures.
Then there are the less mainstream but still high valued modern oracles of tarot, clairvoyants and even astrologers.
Whatever you think of oracles, there is clearly a deeply felt human need for them.
So what is the lure of the oracle?
I’d love to hear your thoughts …
